Was This The PERFECT Gravel Race Course For RACING?
I raced the Rattlesnake Gravel Grinder in Sweetwater Texas and out of all the courses Ive raced, this may just be the best! In this gravel race breakdown I explain what makes a great race course, I walk you through my race, and attempt to make an argument that HARDER DOESN'T MEAN BETTER.

TOO FAST TOO EXCUSES - Stage 3 of the Tucson Bicycle Classic 6 Days In Arizona (ep. 6of 6)
Переглядів 33 тис.28 днів тому
In this episode of the six days in Arizona mini Vlog series, we go through the final stage of the Tucson bicycle classic. It was an extremely fast circuit race that had a decent little climb at the start finish line and some really tight turns caused havoc for me. I tried to explain why I erased in a division that was above my pay grade, talk about the connection with my son on this trip, and r...
Dropped in the First 30 Seconds??? - 6 Days In Arizona (ep.5 of 6)
Переглядів 46 тис.28 днів тому
In this episode of the Arizona daily Vlog series, I try to make the time cut of stage two of the Tucson bicycle classic. This road race started faster than any race I’ve ever done and I felt like I was breathing through my butt hole from the gun. I did my best to stay with the group to make the time cut. I also give back to my son and take him to do some fun things around the Tucson, Arizona ar...

In this episode of the six days in Arizona mini Vlog series, we start the three stage pro stage race of the Tucson bicycle classic. I’m racing the pro category which I absolutely do not belong in, but we are trying to see just how I stack up against the best in the country of the three stages, this is the time trial. It’s short and you need tons of power. Even though I’m not the best, I sure do...
Mt. Lemmon is the PERFECT Climb! - 6 Days In Arizona (ep.3 of 6)

In this episode of the six days in Arizona, we get to ride up the famous Mount Lemmon. I have heard so much about this climb, but didn’t really get why it was so hyped up. But after doing this one, this is definitely a bucket list climb. Riding from the hot desert all the way up to the snowcapped mountain of Mount Lemmon, was truly one for the books. This is a six episode of mini Vlog series wh...

In this episode of six days in Arizona mini Vlog series, we ride gravel in the Catalina State Park area. I was unsure of how good the gravel was going to be out here in Arizona, but it turned out to be absolutely top-notch. We rode 50 year trail, which had great dirt and was perfect for a gravel bike. This is a six episode mini Vlog series where I explore the Tucson Arizona area while prepping ...

What does a 24 HOUR MTB Race FEEL LIKE!?!?
Переглядів 81 тис.Місяць тому
What does it feel like to race a mountain bike for 24 hours straight? In this video I tell my story of racing the 24 hours in the old Pueblo mountain bike race. I raced the solo category, but most of the racers out here are on a team. In this ultra distance cycling story, I talk about what it feels like to raise a mountain bike for 24 hours. I show the highs and lows and everything in between. ...
How I Got My BEST EVER Gravel Race FINISH! (Rock Cobbler 2024)

In this gravel cycling video, I walked through my experience and my race at the 11th edition of the rock cobbler in Bakersfield, California. This turned out to be my best ever finish at a proper gravel race, which is strange, because I went into it with zero expectations and just wanted to tell a good story of the course. The rock cobbler is one of the most dynamic courses on the gravel cycling...

    Any tips for becoming a better endurance rider? I bike like 8 miles a day for commuting to work, and maybe once a month go on a longer distance (30 - 50 mile) bike ride. But I find that a 10-12mph average speed is the most that is sustainable for me. Like I no way I could do 100 miles at 18mph

    You will one day stand before God and answer for everything you have done. How will you do on that day? Here's a quick test: Have you ever lied? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you used God's name in vain? Have you ever looked at someone with lust? Have you had sex outside of marriage? Have you ever had, or been involved in, an abortion? Will you be guilty on Judgment Day? If you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, fornicating, blasphemer, adulterer at heart, and murderer, and the Bible warns that God will punish you in a terrible place called the lake of fire: Revelation 21:8: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Yet God, who is "...rich in mercy,..." sent His Son the Lord Jesus Christ to suffer and die on the cross for all guilty sinners. We broke God's law and the Lord Jesus Christ paid our fine. That means God can legally dismiss our case and He can commute our death sentence. John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life." Then the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead and defeated death. Please, repent of your sins and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, and God will give you eternal life as a free gift: Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." John 14:6: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

    Oval rings are best if you are a heel dropper! I considered them but I am between toes pointing down to neutral. IMO Oval cranks are a bike mounted orthopedic in neural muscular terms your body will adapt to it. but getting over the jumps in the 10-52t is definitely something to test out! :0)

    Thank you for putting these videos out. At 55, I have learned so much from your races and the issues that you have during the races. It has given me the confidence to enter my first 25 mile trail race. I don't expect to win, but finishing would be a major accomplishment for me. Your not giving up on the longer races shows me that giving up is not an option. I would love to see some videos on your bike setups for different races.

    • @TheVCAdventures

      The larger option was much heavier, and only an extra 25mm. The frame won’t fit a MTB dropper with more travel. I do regret going 50mm though, it’s nice, but I’d like just a little more drop.

    Most of the time you’re too far from the rider in front of you,you’re basically doing an ITT! Bike racing is all about conserving energy,you need the aero gaines of the man in front of you. I don’t even wanna talk about the watts you lose by handling the camera 📸,microphone and powerbank 😂 Dude,you’re in the form of your life-enjoy racing,you can beat them all! 🤙

    • @TheVCAdventures
      @TheVCAdventures 4 дні тому

      This may sound like an excuse, but the facts are the facts. Content and story is pretty much all I’m thinking about in the moment. And I believe that this does hinder my results and performance, but results are not my job, telling the story is. There is only one race I ever did where I didn’t bring a camera and focused on was the race. It was the only time I ever got on the podium in a full on pro road race. It was one of the most hardest and grueling Norcal road races and I ended up getting third. I have no footage to show that cool story, but it did happen, lol.😂

    Yo, VC. Use your extra weight to your advantage. Let people outclimb you and then get super aero (aerobars would help a ton) on the descents and flats and you'll catch right back up. Works like a charm. Let them accordion in front of you and you fall off the back and catch back up over and over again. You'll get more draft affect than trying to be at or off the front and end up using less watts to go the same speed. And then at the end, pass them for the win.

  • @ZenEndurance
    @ZenEndurance 7 днів тому

    Don't forget that courses that destroy your bike are a huge turnoff. Peanutbutter mud, deep water crossings, stupid rough and tight pinch points that cause collisions... There's a whole sport of obstacle course and mud racing and if we wanted to do that, we would have signed up for that. I can't afford to destroy my bike just to get 20th place in my age group or DNF. So a nice course with reasonable design that is actually rideable is where people will end up spending their money.
